It's Not Me, It's You is a compilation of real-life bad date tales.
Let's be real—we've all been there. In collecting stories from people about bad dates they have experienced, my goal was to cultivate a space of empathy. I wanted to bring bad daters together, and in doing so, diffuse what was a negative experience and transform it into a collective lament that could bring people together.
Bad dates are more common than real life makes them out to be—knowing that they're so prevalent could theoretically lessen the pressure on daters in general, and reassure them that all humans are on a level playing field. Sharing these stories would serve as a survival method for modern daters; perhaps talking about bad dates might make bad daters better.
Plus, even if you haven't been on a bad date, I'm sure you'd like to hear about someone else's.
